Lead Hand, Card Finishing
Overview:
- Co-ordinate and control the activity of the Card Finishing department to optimize resources, minimize cost and maintain quality standards.
- Plan, control and improve all production processes while ensuring all procedures and quality guidelines are adhered to.
- Evaluate the performance and the efficiency of staff and procedures.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Accountable for signoffs on all machines during working shift within the Card Finishing department.
- Problem solve when issues arise on the Card Finishing equipment.
- Enter and record daily production data.
- Maintain proper security requirements.
- Responsible for meeting all Service Level Agreements (SLA’s) deliverables.
- Ensure the production floor is maintained tidy and orderly.
- Daily recap of the events on the shift to department manager.
- Manage scrap levels in line with set targets.
- Hold daily meetings communicating expectations.
- Evaluate the performance and the efficiency of staff and procedures.
- Plan and control production activity within Card Finishing.
- Ensure highest quality of service is achieved in most efficient manner and at optimal costs.
- Continually review processes for improvement.
- Attend daily production meetings.
Secondary Responsibilities:
- Aid in the annual and semi-annual inventory counts and adjustments and provide reports.
- Plan, control and improve all production processes related to product range ensuring all company procedures and quality guidelines are adhered to within the Card Finishing process.
- Control staff selection, training, development and utilization. Evaluate the performance and the efficiency of staff and procedures.
- Ensure a safe and clean site while the working environment is in line with Health and Safety guidelines.
- Ensure that communication with managers on reports and general information is conducted and distributed within the required timelines.
- Support and encourage an objective to manage costs within budget and look for ways to reduce costs.

Specific Skills/Knowledge and Qualifications:
- High School Diploma is preferred.
- 3-5 years industry knowledge preferred.
- 3-5 years experience with staff management / employee relations.
- Experience in Collation/Graphics from the automotive sector is an asset.
- Experience in Quality – ISO9000 is also an asset.
- Ability to use computers – Standard Applications and Procedures (SAP) knowledge.
- Must be able to read and write in English.
- Must be organized and a good multi-tasker.
- Demonstrate ability to work well under pressure and meet all deadlines.
- Customer focus mindset.
- Strong time management skills.
Working Conditions:
- Required to work on steady afternoon shift.
- May be required to work on other shifts (Days/Afternoons/Evenings).
- Overtime and weekend work at times maybe required.
- Responsible to maintain confidentiality.
- Maintain a professional and positive attitude.
- Safety shoes / boots is mandatory on Production/Manufacturing floor.
Physical Demands:
- Ability to work standing on both feet 100% of the time while operating machinery.
- Ability to lift 10 – 50 lbs from the floor, up to waist level, frequently.
- Ability to frequently bend, lift, walk, crouch and kneel.
- Requires keen eyesight and alertness to detail.
- May be required to work long periods of time at computer screen.
