Location: Toronto, ON Job Title: Telecommunications – Mobile Network and Connectivity Test Engineer
Position Overview:
The candidate will be a member of the Terminal Certification Lab and, as such, will develop, maintain and execute the test plans pertaining to applications on our PCS and iDEN
product portfolio. He/she will also contribute to the development of
processes, methodologies, testing techniques and product development.
Roles/Responsibilities::
● Develop and evolve the test plans pertaining to terminals (e.g., EVDO Rev. 0 & Rev. A, SMS, IOTA, OTASP, OTAPA, Bluetooth®, 1X Mobile IP, 1X Simple IP, PoC, tethered data);
● Contribute to the development and evolution of testing methodologies - execution,
● Verification/validation, reporting (e.g. automation, centralized issue management);
● Contribute to the development and evolution of the processes and procedures required to integrate with multiple functional groups;
● Assist in the early evaluation of candidate handsets for suitability in entering the certification cycle;
● Stay current with testing methodologies and standards relating to the wireless industry;
● Stay current with wireless technologies associated with service offerings (e.g., EVDO Rev. 0 & Rev. A, SMS, IOTA, OTASP, OTAPA, Bluetooth®, 1X Mobile IP, 1X Simple IP, PoC,
tethered data)
● Assess and prepare test materials
relating to new technologies identified as necessary for
implementing new service offering;
● Operate computers, servers, test equipment, diagnosis software
and test automation software, as applicable to the execution of the test
plans and methodologies.
Required Qualifications:
● Minimum of two (2) years experience in the wireless telecommunications industry, preferably in the CDMA environment;
● Excellent understanding of current wireless data/messaging applications, including but not limited to EVDO Rev. 0 & Rev. A, SMS, IOTA, OTASP, OTAPA, Bluetooth®, 1X Mobile IP, 1X Simple IP, PoC and tethered data;
● Good understanding of client/server technologies;
● Excellent software and network troubleshooting techniques and skills;
● Strong understanding of TCP/IP and related protocols (e.g., HTTP, UDP, SMTP, POP3);
● Excellent multitasking skills for participating in concurrent projects in a cross-functional team environment;
● Knowledge of wireless standards bodies (e.g., CDG, OMA, 3GPP, 3GPP2);
● Excellent written and verbal communication skills;
● Strong technical writing skills highly desirable;
● Experience in working with terminal and/or infrastructure vendors;
● Desire to learn and work in a continuously fast-changing environment;
● Well-organized and detailed-oriented person;
● Self-motivated, challenge-driven individual.
